In preparation for the upcoming Gulf Medical University (GMU) Winter Market, the College Student Happiness Center at the Thumbay College of Management and AI in Healthcare (TCMAIH) recently organized a specialized workshop titled “Introduction to Entrepreneurship.” Aimed specifically at the undergraduate student body, this strategic initiative was designed to transform aspiring student vendors into capable business operators ready to successfully navigate a real-world retail environment. By bridging foundational business knowledge with practical marketplace dynamics, the session provided an immersive platform for students to transition from casual event participants into strategic, forward-thinking campus entrepreneurs.

The intensive training session was delivered by Dr. Zeina Mazloum, Head of Student Affairs, who spearheaded the workshop in close collaboration with the TCMAIH academic community. Dr. Mazloum focused on equipping the young vendors with the essential entrepreneurial skills necessary to effectively launch, manage, and sustain small-scale business ventures within a bustling commercial landscape. Throughout her delivery, she emphasized the importance of adopting a proactive business mindset, encouraging undergraduate students to confidently navigate commercial challenges and view the upcoming winter exhibition as a critical milestone for experiential learning.

During the interactive session, the student participants deeply explored several core business concepts that are vital to achieving immediate retail success at the market. The curriculum guided them through the technicalities of identifying specific customer needs within the university ecosystem, translating those observations into impactful value creation, and mastering basic marketing principles to maximize booth visibility and foot traffic. Furthermore, significant emphasis was placed on the art of effective communication with customers, teaching the undergraduate vendors how to pitch their products professionally, handle inquiries with confidence, and foster positive consumer relationships.

The workshop concluded with a formal recognition ceremony where the organizing committee proudly facilitated the distribution of participation certificates to the newly trained student vendors. These certificates were presented individually by the Dean of TCMAIH, Prof. Amir Zeid, whose presence highlighted the institution’s deep dedication to fostering a robust culture of student-led innovation and practical business development. Witnessing the undergraduate students take these confident and calculated steps toward real-world commercial experience stands as an inspiring testament to TCMAIH’s ongoing commitment to nurturing future-ready leaders.
