
Gulf Medical University has once again improved its standing in the latest RUR World University Ranking, building on last year’s metrics with strong gains across its core academic pillars.
GMU now ranks 739th globally up 27 places from last year’s position of 766th and holds the 3rd position among UAE universities.
The University moved up significantly in both of its most heavily weighted categories. GMU climbed to 702nd in the world for Research (up from 734th) and 904th in the world for Teaching (up from 928th), reflecting sustained investment in our academic staff, research output, and student outcomes.

GMU also holds strong national standing, ranking 2nd in the UAE for Teaching and 2nd in the UAE for Research, reaffirming its position as one of the country’s leading institutions for academic and research excellence.
GMU continues to stand out for its multicultural academic environment, ranking 3rd in the world for share of international academic staff and 5th in the world for share of international students figures that place GMU among the most internationally engaged universities globally and underscore its truly global community of scholars and learners.
The RUR Rankings evaluate more than 1,300 top universities worldwide across 20 indicators spanning four key areas: Teaching, Research, International Diversity, and Financial Sustainability.
