Gulf Medical University (GMU) has achieved strong global performance in the Times Higher Education Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026, maintaining its overall global position in the 301–400 band and recording significant progress across key Sustainable Development Goals. The 2026 rankings evaluated 1,646 universities from 116 countries, reflecting the growing global significance of sustainability and social impact in higher education.
GMU’s 2026 results reflect the university’s continued commitment to health, education, equity, sustainability, and global partnerships. The university achieved notable global rankings across three key SDGs, ranking 23rd globally in SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, 60th globally in SDG 4: Quality Education, and 64th globally in SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being.
GMU also recorded strong year-on-year progress across these areas. In SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, the university advanced from the 101–200 band in 2025 to 64th globally in 2026. In SDG 4: Quality Education, GMU improved from 77th globally in 2025 to 60th globally in 2026. The most significant progress was achieved in SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, where GMU advanced from the 101–200 band in 2025 to 23rd globally in 2026.
In addition to its global achievements, GMU secured strong national positions in the UAE, ranking 2nd in the UAE for SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, 5th in the UAE for SDG 4: Quality Education, and 3rd in the UAE for SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities.
The university also maintained its performance in SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, ranking in the 201–300 band, and improved in SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, moving to the 601–800 band in 2026.
These achievements highlight GMU’s expanding role as a health professions university committed to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals through education, research, healthcare services, community engagement, inclusion, and institutional partnerships.
GMU’s performance in the 2026 ratings further reinforces its position as a leading medical and health sciences university in the UAE and the region, with a growing global impact in areas aligned with its mission and strategic priorities.
