Gulf Medical University (GMU) has successfully completed its International Quality Accreditation (IQA) and has been awarded institutional accreditation by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA), United Kingdom, valid until 2031.
This marks GMU’s first full QAA re-accreditation, following its initial accreditation in 2021 and successful mid-cycle review in 2024. The review team confirmed that GMU meets all 10 European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG), with no conditions.
The QAA report identified seven areas of good practice, including GMU’s integrated QA & IE Portal, comprehensive approach to new programme development and resourcing, consistent use of learning outcomes, curriculum-integrated internships, peer-assisted learning, holistic student support, and effective dissemination of external review outcomes.
Commenting on the achievement, Prof. Manda Venkatramana, Chancellor of GMU, said that the accreditation is a powerful endorsement of GMU’s academic quality, governance, and commitment to continuous improvement, reflecting the collective dedication of faculty, staff, students, alumni, clinical partners, and external stakeholders.
This re-accreditation reinforces GMU’s position as a leading medical and health sciences university in the UAE and the region, with quality systems benchmarked against international standards and a continued commitment to academic excellence, innovation, clinical education, research, and social accountability.
