Dr. Wafaa Anani earned her Ph.D. in Software Engineering from Western University, Canada, in 2024, and brings over two decades of industry experience in software development alongside nine years of academic and research engagement. She currently serves as an Assistant Professor at Gulf Medical University in the United Arab Emirates, where she contributes to interdisciplinary education and research at the intersection of software engineering and healthcare technology. Prior to this, she held an Assistant Professor position at Western University, where she taught graduate-level courses in web application development and cloud computing.

Dr. Anani’s research interests include secure wireless communication, machine learning applications in software engineering, cybersecurity, and the Medical Internet of Things (MIoT). She has authored several peer-reviewed publications presented at international IEEE conferences and journals. Her work has earned her multiple accolades, including the Ion Inculet PhD Award in Engineering, the Queen Elizabeth II Graduate Scholarship, and two Mitacs Awards for research in IoT security. A dedicated member of the IEEE community, Dr. Anani holds leadership and reviewer roles, actively supporting innovation and inclusion in the engineering field.
