Dr. Preetha Jayasheela Shetty has a Ph.D. degree in Genetics and Molecular Medicine from Osmania University, India. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Science, U.K. She has 15 years of graduate and undergraduate teaching experience, of which 10 years is post Ph.D. She has an excellent teaching, research, and diagnostic background and independently handled Research Projects. She is the recipient of the Women Scientist Award from the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. She has expertise in the fields of genetics and genetic disorders and was involved in carrying out Cytogenetic, Molecular & Genetic testing, and Genetic counseling for Patient care.

She has worked and gained knowledge in premier institutions of international repute like the Indian Institute of Science Bangalore and Center for DNA fingerprinting, Hyderabad India. She has mentored Ph.D., Graduate, and Undergraduate students in their research projects. Her area of research interest is evaluation of the Methylation status of candidate genes and their interaction in breast cancer, study Gene polymorphism in endometriosis, study biochemical and molecular markers in Diabetes and prostate cancers, Regulation of candidate gene expression in oral and esophageal cancer, and studying the molecular markers associated with rare genetic disorders.

She is a recipient of many awards including the YMK student Award for best paper presentation at3rd International Conference on Genetic and Molecular Diagnosis in Modern Medicine and Biology 2010, Best Poster Award at the 4th International Conference on GMDMM by the Division of Human Genetics, St. John’s Medical College, India, Excellency in teaching award by GMU, UAE and Research Excellence award by GMU, UAE.

She is currently on the editorial board of “International Journal of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (IJHRS)” ISSN: 2278-9030. She is an Associate member of the Board of Genetic Counseling in India (BGI 2020-166).
