Dr. Ashraf is an accomplished biochemist and neuroscientist with 16 years of experience in research, teaching, and innovation across the biological, health, and medical sciences. He holds bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in Biochemistry from Aligarh Muslim University, India, as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration (PGDBA) in Operations Management from the Symbiosis Centre for Distance Learning, India. To further strengthen his expertise in higher education pedagogy, he completed the prestigious Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW), delivered in collaboration with the University of British Columbia, Canada.

His research focuses on deciphering the molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative disorders and developing innovative therapeutic strategies for diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease and multiple sclerosis. His research group investigates serotonin receptor signaling, develops selective modulators to counteract pathological protein aggregation, and advances next-generation therapies aimed at improving neurological health.

Dr. Ashraf has been recognized among the Top 2% of Scientists Worldwide since 2021 (Stanford–PLOS–Elsevier), ranked as the leading Biochemistry Scientist in the UAE by the AD Scientific Index, and acknowledged as a World Expert in Neurodegenerative Diseases by Expertscape. He has been listed in Marquis Who’s Who in the World since 2020, received the Publons/Web of Science Top Reviewer Awards in Cross-Field and Biology & Biochemistry (2019), holds five international patents, and has authored nearly 450 publications, with more than 21,000 citations and an H-index exceeding 75.

Beyond his research achievements, Dr. Ashraf has held several academic leadership roles, including Member of University Faculty Development Program Committee, Department Officer for the Summer Research Fellowship Program, Team Leader for Research Accreditation, Head of the Molecular Biology Laboratory, and Coordinator of the Publication Committee. He also has extensive editorial experience with leading international journals, including Journal of Advanced Research, Scientific Reports, and PLOS ONE. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine (FRSM) and a member of several international scientific societies, including the Royal Society of Biology (MRSB), the Canadian Association for Neuroscience, and the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
