Dr. Alber Mariajohn Mathiarasu is a Public Health Specialist and academician with over 25 years of clinical, academic, and field epidemiology experience across government health systems, medical colleges, and international public health programs. He holds an MBBS, an MD in Community Medicine from The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University  and a PhD in Community Medicine from Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation, India. he is also an ORCID-registered researcher (0000-0001-9507-478X).

Dr. Mathiarasu has served in key public health and academic leadership roles, including Associate Professor / Assistant Associate Professor of Community Medicine at various Govt / Private  Medical CollegesSurveillance Medical Officer with the World Health Organization–India, and Public Health Specialist / Zonal Health Officer at Greater  Chennai Corporation / Health Officer at the Commissionerate of Food Safety and Drug Administration, FSSAI  and City Health Officer / at the Directorate of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Tamil Nadu. His earlier career includes a decade of service as a Medical Officer in Primary Health Care, during which his facility twice received the Best Primary Health Centre Award from the District Collector.

An accomplished researcher, Dr. Mathiarasu has published extensively more than fifty publications in peer-reviewed national and international journals on diabetes epidemiologynon-communicable diseasesneonatal healthvaccination coveragedyslipidemiapublic health interventions, and transgender health awareness. He has presented his work in multiple national conferences, including the JIPMER National Public Health ConferenceDPHICON, and the Tamil Nadu State Public Health Conference. His community-based randomized controlled trials on diabetes prevention and behavioral change interventions are frequently cited in public health literature.

A recipient of the WHO Appreciation Award for Best Monitor and Supportive Supervisor during the Measles–Rubella Campaign, Dr. Mathiarasu has undergone advanced professional training in epidemiology, health economics, clinical trials, bioethics, infectious disease control, IMNCI, RNTCP, disaster management, and scientific writing through WHO Collaborating Centres..

He continues to contribute as a Continuous Medical Education ( CME ) Observer for The Tamil Nadu Medical Counciland has achieved more than 250 credit points  (2021–present) and remains an active scholar in Community health research, migrant health, NCD prevention, and evidence-based public health policy.
