Dr. Mohamed Atef

Dr. Mohamed Atef is an Assistant Professor of Periodontics at the College of Dentistry, GMU. Dr. Atef graduated from Cairo University in 2011, after graduation he joined the residency program at the Periodontics Department in Cairo University from 2013 till 2016.  Following which Dr. Atef attained his Master’s Degree in 2018 and Ph.D. in 2021 from the Faculty of Dentistry, Cairo University, Egypt. Dr. Atef has published his Ph.D. work in one of the most reputable journals in Implant Dentistry, The journal of Clinical Implant Dentistry and Related Research. His article was awarded as one of the most cited articles in Wiley in 2021/2022.

Prior to joining GMU, Dr. Atef was an assistant lecturer from 2018 to 2021, and lecturer from 2021 till 2023 in the Periodontics Department at Cairo University. Dr. Atef was the course director of the 4th year Periodontics Undergraduate Clinical Program as a part of the DIIP (Dental International Integrated Program) at Faculty of Dentistry, Cairo University. He was also the clinical supervisor for master’s and Ph.D students for research projects such as the use of Dentin Graft in Periodontal Regeneration, Ridge Preservation and Augmentation, and the use of Biovolume for the treatment of Gummy Smile and the use of Alb-PRF for Papillae reconstruction,. Additionally, dr. Atef has also contributed to the Plastic Periodontal Surgery Course as a part the Periodontics Ph.D. Program and in the Peri-implant soft tissue Management in the Prosthodontics Postgraduate program.

Dr. Atef has also organized several workshops on suturing and soft tissue management around teeth and dental implants.
