Continuing its commitment to faculty development and welfare, the Gulf Medical University (GMU) College of Pharmacy hosted an insightful workshop titled “Reducing Burnout Among Students and Faculty”. The seminar, held on Friday, January 23, 2026, addressed the growing importance of mental health within the academic and healthcare sectors.
The session was presented by Prof. Mayssah El Nayal, Professor of Clinical Psychology and Personality at College of Medicine, Chairperson of the General Education Department, and Director of the Student Wellbeing Center at Gulf Medical University. Drawing on her extensive background in clinical psychology and her experience as the former Dean of the Faculty of Human Sciences at Beirut Arab University, Prof. El Nayal shared evidence-based strategies to identify and manage academic stress.
During the workshop, participants explored the psychological drivers of burnout and discussed practical interventions to maintain professional resilience. The initiative aligns with SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, emphasizing GMU’s dedication to creating a supportive environment where both students and educators can thrive.

The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session, providing attendees with personalized advice on balancing the rigorous demands of pharmaceutical education and clinical practice.
