The UPSF-GMU and GMU-IVPN student clubs successfully collaborated to participate in Medhack 2026, an innovative and interdisciplinary event held on March 23rd at the American University of Sharjah (AUS). The event brought together brilliant minds from both engineering and medical backgrounds, fostering an insightful environment where participants worked together to create a lasting impact on healthcare technology and practice.
The joint booth engaged attendees with a highly interactive setup featuring four distinct educational activities. To encourage engagement and reward accuracy, special giveaways were handed out to participants who successfully completed the challenges.
The booth featured four engaging educational stations that introduced participants to key pharmacy concepts. Attendees explored a custom AI-powered website incorporating a Clinical Decision Support System (CDSS), prescription generation tools, and a dispensing checklist. They then participated in a Look-Alike, Sound-Alike (LASA) medication challenge that highlighted the importance of proper drug organization in reducing dispensing errors. A medication storage activity demonstrated how environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, and light can affect drug stability and efficacy. Finally, participants worked through clinical case scenarios involving drug interactions and contraindications, using QR-code-accessible reference materials to support evidence-based decision-making.
Through this engaging and well-executed initiative, UPSF-GMU and GMU-IVPN effectively translated vital pharmacy concepts into an interactive real-world scenario. The booth demonstrated the proactive role that pharmacy students play in healthcare innovation, leaving a highly educational and memorable mark on the Medhack event.
