Master in Clinical Pharmacy (MCP) students from the College of Pharmacy at Gulf Medical University (GMU) actively participated in the Fourth AAU Health and Biomedical Postgraduate Symposium held at Al Ain University, where they showcased exceptional research achievements and academic excellence. The symposium brought together postgraduate students from across the UAE to present innovative research in health, biomedical sciences, clinical pharmacy, and pharmaceutical practice.
GMU’s College of Pharmacy delivered an outstanding performance, securing three awards across various categories—an accomplishment that reflects the strength and quality of its postgraduate research environment.
MCP student Ms. May Gamal, in collaboration with Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) student Ms. Nikita Sunil and under the supervision of Dr. Diana Malaeb, received first place in the poster presentation category for their research project titled “Accuracy of AI Models in Identifying Drug-Drug Interactions in Cardiovascular Polypharmacy: A Comparative Study Against Lexicomp.”
Additionally, MCP student Dr. Omaimah Taufiq earned third place in the Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Practice oral presentation category, supervised by Dr. Vineetha Menon, for the research project titled “Double Anaerobic Coverage in a Tertiary Care Hospital.”
Furthermore, MCP graduate Dr. Hadeel AlZuabi secured third place in the poster presentation category, supervised by Dr. Jisha Lucca, for the research project titled “Out-of-Pocket Expenditures on Over-the-Counter Medications: A Cross-Sectional Study of Consumer Spending Patterns.” This achievement further highlights the diverse research excellence demonstrated by GMU students.
These accomplishments underscore the College of Pharmacy’s strong commitment to fostering research, innovation, and scholarly excellence, and reflect Gulf Medical University’s ongoing dedication to preparing future leaders in pharmaceutical and biomedical sciences.
