Gulf Medical University’s College of Pharmacy marked another milestone in its international academic collaborations as two of its students successfully completed a one‑month ambulatory pharmacy clinical rotation at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Health, USA. The training was conducted under the ongoing GMU–VCU student exchange program, which supports global experiential learning for pharmacy trainees.
The cohort included one PharmD student and one PharmD Post‑Bachelor student, both of whom trained across multiple ambulatory care settings at VCU Health. Their rotation involved hands‑on exposure to:
- Pharmacist‑managed consultation clinics
- Chronic disease management services
- Medication therapy management (MTM) sessions
- Interprofessional patient‑care activities
- Evidence‑based decision‑making in outpatient care
Faculty at VCU Health commended the students for their professionalism, clinical curiosity, and strong foundational knowledge. The exchange program continues to strengthen GMU’s commitment to preparing globally competent pharmacists equipped for advanced clinical roles.
GMU College of Pharmacy Dean Prof. Shorbagy said: “This collaboration reflects GMU’s strategic vision to expand international training pathways and enhance the clinical readiness of its pharmacy graduates.”
