In celebration of World Cancer Day, on 4th February 2026, the GMU-IVPN Student Club organized a comprehensive cancer awareness campaign, dedicated to education, prevention, and early intervention. The student-led initiative aimed to raise awareness about various types of cancer while emphasizing the importance of evidence-based prevention strategies, timely screening, and patient-centered care.
The event focused on addressing misconceptions, improving health literacy, and highlighting the critical components of a structured cancer care plan. Students, faculty members, and visitors were actively engaged through a series of thoughtfully designed learning stations that translated complex clinical concepts into accessible, hands-on experiences.
The awareness campaign featured three interactive educational stations designed to deepen public understanding of cancer. A Cancer and Prevention Match‑Up challenged participants to link lifestyle, genetic, and environmental risk factors to specific cancers while highlighting evidence‑based prevention strategies such as healthy habits, vaccination, and regular screening. A Myth vs. Fact board encouraged attendees to sort common beliefs about cancer into accurate or inaccurate categories, prompting conversations about stigma, causes, treatment, and survivorship. Finally, a Cancer Care Pathway Puzzle guided participants through the stages of the patient journey, illustrating the multidisciplinary and long‑term nature of cancer care.
An informative desk staffed by GMU-IVPN members provided additional resources, answered questions, and reinforced key public health messages related to early detection and adherence to screening recommendations. The initiative highlighted how pharmacists serve as a vital link between medical science and the public, particularly in chronic disease prevention and long-term care.
