The College of Pharmacy at Gulf Medical University (GMU) recently conducted two professional development sessions at Misr International University focused on strengthening assessment practices, led by Dr. Muhammed Abdullatif, Assistant Dean of Assessment and Evaluation at the College of Pharmacy, as part of the University’s ongoing commitment to advancing assessment quality and educational excellence.
The first session, held on Tuesday, 28 July 2026, titled “Programmatic Assessment Workflow: Planning, Quality Assurance, and Continuous Improvement.” The session brought together academic staff to explore the essential components of a comprehensive programmatic assessment system and highlighted best practices for ensuring the quality, validity, and continuous improvement of student assessment.
During the session, Dr. Abdullatif discussed the design of assessment plans and assessment workflows, examination blueprint development, test item construction, question bank development and management, examination validation, assessment reliability, test item analysis, and standard setting.
Building on the concepts introduced during the session, a hands-on workshop was conducted on Sunday, 2 August 2026, titled “Curricular Outcome Mapping and Competency Achievement Analytics: A Hands-on Workshop Using Evalign®.” The practical session provided participants with the opportunity to apply curricular mapping methodologies using the Evalign® platform and gain experience in competency achievement analytics.
During the workshop, participants navigated the Evalign® platform and explored its core functionalities, prepared assessment files for upload and analysis, and mapped assessment items to Curricular Outcomes, Bloom’s Taxonomy, and Miller’s Pyramid. The workshop also demonstrated how competency achievement analytics can be used to identify gaps in assessment alignment and support evidence-informed curriculum enhancement.
The sessions concluded with engaging discussions and exchange of ideas among participants on strategies to further strengthen programmatic assessment practices and curricular outcome mapping across academic programs.
The sessions reflected Gulf Medical University’s continued investment in strengthening institutional collaborations and fostering a culture of academic excellence through the exchange of expertise and best practices.
