Interprofessional Vaccination Training Program for PharmD Students

Gulf Medical University’s College of Pharmacy, in collaboration with the College of Nursing, successfully conducted a vaccination training program designed to enhance the clinical competence of pharmacy students in the emerging professional role of pharmacist-led vaccination.

The training program emphasized the importance of interprofessional collaboration in healthcare education. By working alongside nursing faculty and students, pharmacy students gained hands-on experience in vaccination techniques, patient communication, and safety protocols. This initiative reflects GMU’s commitment to preparing future healthcare professionals with the skills required to meet evolving public health needs.

Vaccination Training

Vaccination is a relatively new competence for pharmacists in the UAE, and this training ensures our students are well-prepared to contribute effectively to public health initiatives. Collaborating with colleagues in nursing enriches the learning experience and strengthens interprofessional practice. The training program not only improved technical skills but also fostered teamwork, respect, and shared responsibility among healthcare disciplines.

This initiative is part of GMU’s broader vision to advance healthcare education through innovation, collaboration, and community engagement. By equipping pharmacy students with vaccination skills, GMU continues to play a pivotal role in strengthening the healthcare workforce in the UAE and beyond.
