GMU White Coat Ceremony for the PharmD Class of 2026

Newly joined PharmD students of the College of Pharmacy (admitted in September 2021) began their professional journey by donning their white coats on the 30th of September, 2021 at the Gulf Medical University (GMU) premises.

The ceremony was onsite with online broadcasting for faculty and parents watching their sons and daughters as they start their professional journey as PharmD students. This solemn function was graced by Dr. ThumbayMoideen, Founder& President, Board of trustees and Mr. Akbar Moideen, Vice President, Healthcare. Professor Hossam Hamdy, the Chancellor of Gulf Medical University delivered an inspiring and moral boosting speech that emphasized the vital role of the pharmacist in the healthcare team and how the College of Pharmacy is leading important initiatives in the university and the country in the domains of inter-professional education, research and quality. He also highlighted the ever-changing trends in health professions education delivery such as hybrid and blended learning and virtual patient learning and urged the students to be a part of the upcoming revolution in healthcare delivery. Prof. Manda Venkatramana, Vice Chancellor Academics administered the pledge for the students.

Prof. Sherief Khalifa, Vice Chancellor for Quality and Global Engagement and Dean of the College of Pharmacy, and the administrative faculty celebrated the event with the students and wished them a rewarding professional journey ahead.
