Gulf Medical University’s College of Pharmacy students successfully completed their Oncology Pharmacy Rotation, organized by Future University in Egypt and conducted at the Baheya Training Academy, Baheya Charity Women’s Cancer Hospital in Sheikh Zayed.
Held from 4 May to 1 June 2026, the rotation offered GMU pharmacy students an international clinical training experience in one of the region’s leading women’s cancer care institutions. This collaboration reflects GMU’s commitment to expanding global experiential learning opportunities for its students.
During the rotation, students were immersed in a comprehensive range of oncology pharmacy services, including inpatient and outpatient pharmacy operations, chemotherapy preparation, chemotherapy counseling, ICU pharmacy, and operating room pharmacy support. The training provided hands-on exposure to chemotherapy protocols, dose calculations, controlled medication management, and medication safety practices. Students also engaged with multidisciplinary teams, gaining insight into coordinated cancer care across various clinical settings.
The one‑month experience significantly strengthened students’ clinical competence and confidence in oncology pharmacy practice. By working closely with oncology specialists and participating in real-world patient care activities, students enhanced their skills in patient counseling, safe handling of antineoplastic medications, and evidence-based therapeutic decision-making. This international rotation underscores GMU’s dedication to preparing a future-ready oncology pharmacy workforce, aligned with regional and global healthcare priorities.
