The event featured participation from students from the College of Pharmacy, Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing and Health Sciences, emphasizing the importance of a collaborative approach to diabetes care.

The College of Pharmacy emphasized the importance of an individualized approach in the treatment of diabetes, underscoring how tailored strategies are essential for effective patient management. The program also explored the distinctions between natural and artificial sweeteners, drawing attention to both their potential benefits and the risks associated with excessive use.

Pharmacy students contributed through an interactive stall designed to foster practical learning and interprofessional dialogue. Two engaging activities were featured:

  • Drug Therapy Match-Up: Participants matched drug names with their mechanisms of action and year of discovery, strengthening their understanding of anti-diabetic medication classes.
  • Balanced Diet Challenge: Students developed meal plans for patients with diabetes, highlighting the critical role of nutrition and dietetics in long-term disease management.

The club’s hands-on approach effectively translated theoretical knowledge into practical, collaborative scenarios. The initiative was met with great enthusiasm, bringing future healthcare professionals together and incorporating fun, practical activities, the event successfully fostered a collaborative mindset, paving the way for improved patient-centered care in the future.
