Cairo, Egypt: Professor Muhammad Al-Shorbagy, Dean of the College of Pharmacy at Gulf Medical University (GMU), undertook an official visit to Misr International University (MIU) in Egypt as part of the two institutions’ continuing efforts to strengthen their longstanding academic partnership.
Professor Al-Shorbagy was received by Professor Samy Emara, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at MIU, together with members of the College leadership. The visit provided an important platform for reviewing the successful collaboration established through the longstanding Memorandum of Understanding between the Colleges of Pharmacy at GMU and MIU.
The partnership has facilitated cooperation across several academic and professional domains. Discussions during the visit focused on further expanding these areas of collaboration, exchanging innovative ideas, and exploring mutually beneficial initiatives with the potential to extend beyond the two institutions and contribute to the advancement of pharmacy education across the region.
As part of the programme, Professor Al-Shorbagy delivered a university-wide faculty development workshop attended by academics from across MIU’s colleges. The workshop, titled “From Scholar to Creator: Achieving Digital Self-Sufficiency by Empowering Academicians through Vibe Coding,” explored how academicians can progress from being consumers of artificial intelligence tools to becoming creators of tailored digital solutions for their own educational and professional needs.
The session introduced the concept of the “builder-scholar” and demonstrated how everyday academic challenges can be transformed into practical software specifications through conversational AI, without requiring traditional programming expertise drawing on real examples from the Acabuild AI LabHub ecosystem.
The visit concluded with productive discussions and agreement to initiate new collaborative activities designed to positively influence pharmacy education at both GMU and MIU. These initiatives are expected to support the exchange of expertise, promote educational innovation, and create opportunities for wider regional collaboration among colleges of pharmacy.
The visit reaffirmed the shared commitment of Gulf Medical University and Misr International University to strengthening institutional partnerships and advancing the quality, relevance, and future readiness of pharmacy education within the region and beyond.
