GMU Faculty as Expert Speaker at the 38th Skill Development Programme on Pharmacovigilance by the Pharmacovigilance Program of India (PvPI)

Dr. Juny Sebastian, Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice at Gulf Medical University , was invited as an Expert Speaker at the 38th Skill Development Programme organized by the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC), National Coordination Centre (NCC) for the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI), held from 17–21 August 2026.

As part of the programme, Dr. Juny delivered an expert session titled “Drug Safety: Methodology and Epidemiological Insights,” focusing on the critical role of epidemiological approaches in strengthening pharmacovigilance and improving drug safety surveillance. The session focused on integrating epidemiology with pharmacovigilance, understanding India’s global role in medicine safety, exploring key pharmacovigilance methodologies, and highlighting the impact of epidemiology-driven evidence on regulatory decision-making.

The program brought together healthcare professionals, academicians, industry professionals, students, and research scholars from across India, providing a platform for knowledge exchange and professional development in pharmacovigilance.

The session concluded with an engaging discussion that enabled participants to clarify key pharmacovigilance concepts and explore the practical application of epidemiological principles in real-world drug safety practice. Dr. Juny’s participation as an expert speaker reflects Gulf Medical University’s continued engagement with national and international professional platforms and highlights the expertise and academic contributions of GMU faculty in the areas of pharmacy practice, pharmacovigilance, epidemiology, and medication safety.
