The College of Pharmacy at Gulf Medical University (GMU) successfully organized a specialized Faculty Development Workshop (FDW) titled “The 5-Minute Quiz Master: Rapid Quiz Deployment with AI and Google Sites”. Held on Friday, February 13, 2026, the event was designed to empower GMU faculty and teaching staff with cutting-edge AI tools to enhance student engagement and assessment.
The session was led by Prof. Muhammad Al-Shorbagy, Dean of the College of Pharmacy, who demonstrated how educators can move beyond time-consuming manual quiz entries in systems like Moodle.
Revolutionizing Assessment with AI
The workshop addressed the administrative burden of drafting practice questions by introducing a hands-on approach to digital content creation. Participants explored how to leverage Artificial Intelligence to transform standard course materials into interactive quizzes in just a few clicks.
Key learning objectives focused on by the College of Pharmacy included:
- Content Curation with NotebookLM: Attendees learned to upload lectures and research to create a focused AI “brain” for generating syllabus-aligned practice questions.
- Prompting Gemini for Code: Prof. Al-Shorbagy guided faculty on how to use Gemini to generate custom code for fully functional interactive quizzes.
- Seamless Google Sites Integration: Educators were shown how to easily embed generated code into dedicated Google Sites for student access.
- Immediate Feedback Loops: The session highlighted how to set up automated scoring and rationales, allowing students to learn as they practice without increasing the faculty’s grading workload.

Practical Impact and Efficiency
The College of Pharmacy highlighted that these techniques can reduce quiz creation time from minutes to seconds, providing students with unlimited, low-stakes practice opportunities.
The event concluded with a 20-minute hands-on training session where faculty utilized their own laptops and lecture documents to build live prototypes. This initiative underscores the College’s commitment to staying at the forefront of educational technology and improving the overall learning experience for GMU students
