Dr. Tamer Elwaie's Online Research Seminar

On Thursday, October 1, 2026, the College of Pharmacy at Gulf Medical University hosted an Online Research Seminar Series featuring Dr. Tamer Elwaie, Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Center for Translational Medicine–Adjuvant Research Team, University of Montana, and Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Cairo University.

Titled “From Discovery to Development: Design and Synthesis of First-in-Class Asymmetric Trehalose Glycolipids as Mincle-Targeted Vaccine Adjuvants,” the seminar focused on the design and synthesis of asymmetric trehalose glycolipids targeting Mincle as potential vaccine adjuvants.

Dr. Elwaie’s research integrates synthetic medicinal chemistry and molecular modeling, with a current focus on the discovery and development of vaccine adjuvants for cancer and infectious diseases. His previous research has focused on heterocyclic chemistry and structure–activity relationship studies of kinase inhibitors as potential anticancer agents.

The seminar highlighted the connection between medicinal chemistry, molecular designing, and translational research in the development of novel vaccine adjuvants for cancer and infectious diseases.
