Stanford University’s Meta Research Innovation Center (METRICS), in partnership with SciTech Strategies Inc. and Elsevier’s Research Intelligence division, has released its annual global database of standardized citation metrics for 2025. This prestigious analysis, based on data from the Elsevier Scopus citation database, evaluates researchers worldwide across 22 scientific fields and 174 sub-disciplines.
The ranking identifies the top 2% of scientists globally by applying a composite citation index that accounts for multiple research impact indicators. In the most recent release, Professor Shery Jacob, Professor of Pharmaceutics at Gulf Medical University’s College of Pharmacy, was once again included in this elite list marking his fifth consecutive year of recognition.

As of August 2025, Professor Jacob holds an h-index of 34 with 3,699 citations from 86 publications in Scopus. His scholarly impact is further underscored by a Google Scholar h-index of 40 with 10,939 citations.
Commenting on this accomplishment, Professor Muhammad Al-Shorbagy, Dean of the College of Pharmacy, noted:
“Recognition in Stanford’s global ranking reflects not only Professor Jacob’s outstanding research productivity but also the culture of academic rigor we foster at GMU. His consistent presence among the world’s most cited scientists is a source of inspiration for our faculty and students, and it reaffirms the College’s commitment to advancing pharmaceutical research with global impact.”
