GMU Faculty Shares Expertise on AI and Digital Health at International e-Faculty Development Program

Dr. Juny Sebastian, Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice, College of Pharmacy, Gulf Medical University (GMU), was invited as a speaker at the International e-Faculty Development Program 2026 on “Current Trends in Pharmaceutical Research and Innovation in the Healthcare Sector,” organized by the Amity Institute of Pharmacy, Amity University Kolkata, from 6–11 July 2026.

Dr. Juny delivered a session on 6 July 2026 titled “Current Trends in Healthcare Research: AI, Digital Health, and Real-World Evidence,” highlighting how artificial intelligence, digital health technologies, and real-world evidence are transforming healthcare research and pharmacy practice. The presentation covered AI-enabled clinical decision support, pharmacovigilance, telepharmacy, remote patient monitoring, and the growing role of real-world evidence in clinical and regulatory decision-making, supported by practical pharmacoepidemiology examples.

AI and Digital Health Faculty Development Program

The session emphasized the importance of equipping future pharmacists with AI and data literacy, real-world evidence appraisal skills, and interprofessional collaboration competencies. Attended by faculty members from various pharmaceutical sciences and pharmacy practice disciplines, the session concluded with an engaging interactive discussion and question-and-answer session.
