Report on Nursing Preceptorship Workshop

The Faculty of the College of Nursing were the resource person during the ‘Nursing Preceptorship Workshop’ held at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, Ajman (SKMCA) on 19th and 20th November 2025 for the nursing staff.

The workshop was designed to enhance and empower nurses with professional competence and to support their ongoing professional development. Faculty members facilitated interactive sessions covering key topics such as adult learning principles, the role of preceptors, time management, and students’ roles and responsibilities. Special emphasis was placed on evidence-based nursing practice and effective communication skills.

Participants actively engaged in hands-on and skill-building activities relevant to their daily clinical responsibilities. The interactive approach created a meaningful platform for sharing experiences, challenges, and best practices.

The sessions were facilitated by the College of Nursing, GMU faculty members: Dr. Mary Walton, Ms. Thushara Sekhar, and Dr. Sija Binoy. Staff nurses expressed appreciation for the opportunity to gain updated knowledge and practical insights related to preceptorship. The workshop further encouraged peer learning, collaboration, and reflective practice.
