Report on Nursing Mentorship Program

The Faculty of the College of Nursing collaboratively conducted a ‘Nursing Mentorship Program’ along with Sheikh Khalifa Medical City Ajman (SKMCA) on 15th and 16th September 2025 for the staff.

The program was designed to enhance and empower nurses with professional competence and support professional development among nurses.  Faculty members facilitated interactive sessions covering critical aspects of clinical practice, leadership, and reflective thinking. Special emphasis was placed on patient safety, evidence-based nursing practice, and communication skills.

Nursing Mentorship Program

Participants actively engaged in skill-building exercises relevant to their daily nursing responsibilities. The program promoted problem-solving approaches and encouraged critical thinking among the staff nurses. Case-based discussions bridged the gap between classroom concept and bedside application. The interactive approach created a platform for sharing experiences and best practices.

The sessions were facilitated by the Con, GMU faculty members: Prof.  Selva Titus Chacko (Dean), Dr. Soma Ibrahim Ali, Dr. Sija Binoy, Dr. Remya Pillai, Dr. Masani Abdelbagi, Dr. Samar Mohammed Alhadary, Ms. Vimala Varatharajan, Dr. Ponchitra Ramanathan, Dr. Soney M. Varghese and Ms. Thushara Sekhar.

Additionally, Mr. Suraj Sebastian, E-Learning Manager of GMU, conducted a session highlighting the role of Artificial Intelligence in clinical practice, which was well received by participants.

Staff nurses appreciated the opportunity to gain updated knowledge and practical insights. The mentorship sessions also encouraged peer learning and collaborative practice. Feedback from participants highlighted the program’s effectiveness in enhancing confidence and competence.

Overall, it was a valuable step toward fostering excellence in nursing care delivery.
