Report on Community Engagement Program at HARDCO Group of Companies

The College of Nursing successfully organized a community engagement program on Diabetes Awareness on 16 December 2025 at HARDCO Group of Companies, Sharjah. The program was conducted by Semester 5 BSc Nursing students as part of their commitment to community health promotion and preventive care.

The awareness session was delivered to 30 office staff members and focused on providing a comprehensive overview of diabetes, including global and UAE-specific prevalence statistics. The students highlighted the importance of maintaining a healthy body mass index (BMI), regular physical activity, and a balanced diet in the prevention and management of Diabetes. Interactive activities and educational games were incorporated into the session, which encouraged active participation and enhanced understanding among the participants.

Community Engagement Program

As part of the health screening component, BMI assessment and random blood glucose testing were carried out for the office staff. In addition, 60 workers from the company underwent BMI assessment, random blood glucose testing, and blood pressure monitoring. These screenings supported early identification of health risks and reinforced the importance of regular health check-ups.

The program demonstrated the students’ strong commitment to health promotion, preventive care, and meaningful community engagement by effectively translating theoretical knowledge into practical application.

The initiative contributed to promoting early detection and positive health-seeking behaviour among the participants and aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 3 by advocating preventive health practices and enhancing community awareness.
