The Thumbay Research Institute for Precision Medicine (TRIPM) at Gulf Medical University organized the Annual GMU Research Day 2026 on 22nd May 2026.
Professor. Manda Venkatramana, Chancellor, GMU, delivered the welcome address. Professor Salem Chouaib, Vice Chancellor for Research – GMU and Director of Thumbay Research Institute for Precision Medicine gave the Introductory remarks on the significance of GMU Research Day Celebration, and the research activities carried out at GMU specially at TRIPM.

The Keynote address was delivered by Prof Bozena Kaminska, Head of the Laboratory of Molecular Neurobiology at the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, Poland. Her talk was on, “Exploring the microenvironment of brain tumours to identify new therapeutics”.
Professor Muhammad Al-Shorbagy, Dean, College of Pharmacy, presented on “AI in Research: From Smart Assistance to Researcher-Built Innovation”.

The Research Day witnessed the culmination of research from all Colleges at GMU as well as the clinical research at Thumbay Hospitals. A total of 16 research projects were presented by faculty members which included two Faculty talks from College of Nursing – Dr Soma Ibrahim Ali and Dr Soney M Varghese. 125 posters were displayed and presented, which included 17 posters from BSN, RNBSN and MSNCCN students from College of Nursing on 11th May 2026. The posters presented by the students covered observational and experimental studies conducted at GMU, including TRIPM, research laboratories at different colleges, and the University hospitals.
