GMU Rewards & Recognition 2026

Gulf Medical University (GMU) proudly organized the Rewards & Recognition Ceremony 2026 on 17 January 2026 at the prestigious Queen Elizabeth 2 Floating Hotel, Dubai, celebrating excellence, dedication, and the outstanding contributions of its colleges, faculty, and staff across the University.

The occasion was made even more special as GMU celebrated the prestigious honours conferred upon the University—the Diversity Champion Award 2026 and the International Inclusion Award 2026—reflecting GMU’s collective commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion across all academic and institutional practices.

The event was graced by Dr. Thumbay Moideen, Founder President of the Thumbay Group, UAE, as the Chief Guest,  whose presence added great inspiration to the ceremony. The event was spearheaded by Prof. Manda Venkataramana, Chancellor, GMU, along with the dedicated Human Resources team.

GMU Rewards & Recognition 2026

The College of Nursing received special recognition and felicitation for its continued commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and collective efforts in advancing nursing education and the nursing profession.

The following faculty members from the College of Nursing were honored:

  • Selva Titus Chacko, Dean, College of Nursing, received an Appreciation Award for her visionary leadership in initiating new postgraduate programs, securing Candidacy Status from the international accreditation body ACEN for all programs, and significantly enhancing the College’s academic stature.
  • Soma Ibrahim Ali was honored with an Appreciation Award in the Category of Administration for her exemplary leadership in college administration.
  • Soney M. Varughese received the Best Faculty Award for excellence in teaching and dedicated service.
  • Vimala Varatharajan was recognized with the Best Lecturer Award for her outstanding academic contributions.

Adding to the pride of the College, Ms. Mariyam Waleed Ahmed Abdulaziz Al Mansoori from the BSN 2024 cohort was honored as the Emirati Student with the Highest CGPA, reflecting her academic excellence and perseverance.

GMU Rewards & Recognition 2026

To commemorate the Diversity Champion Award 2026, the event featured a unique and vibrant display of faculty and staff representatives from 28 different countries, out of the 35 nationalities working at GMU, proudly standing on stage with their national flags. It was a proud moment for the College of Nursing as Prof. Selva Titus Chacko represented India.

The evening concluded with vibrant entertainment followed by a grand dinner, making the celebration truly memorable—a testament to achievement, collaboration, and shared success.
