World Kidney Day Community Engagement Program

The College of Nursing, Gulf Medical University, successfully conducted a Community Engagement Activity in observance of World Kidney Day 2026 at Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Hospital, Sharjah, on Friday, 1 May 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

The programme was organized by 2nd, 4th, and 6th Semester BSN students as part of the College’s ongoing commitment to health promotion and community outreach. Aligned with the World Kidney Day message, “Kidney Health for All: Caring for People, Protecting the Planet,” the activity focused on raising awareness about kidney health through engaging and interactive learning experiences.

During the event, students conducted educational discussions on the functions of the kidneys, causes of kidney failure, and practical ways to protect kidney health. The programme also featured awareness posters, interactive displays, games, and live activity stations that encouraged active participation from hospital visitors and staff.

The event served as a meaningful opportunity for students to strengthen their communication, health education, and community engagement skills while contributing to public awareness on kidney health. The enthusiastic response from participants reflected the value of such initiatives in promoting preventive health practices within the community.
