The College of Medicine organized World Diabetes Day as an interprofessional activity with contributions from the Colleges of Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing, and Physiotherapy. The theme of this year was “Diabetes and the Workplace”.
Students contributed to the event with various activities, including posters prepared by MD students, about the types & risk factors of DM, HDPCS students discussed “Diabetic foot”, with emphasis on guidelines to be followed by diabetic patients to avoid this complication.

Dental students prepared a poster about “ the oral complications of DM”. They also prepared an interactive station to raise awareness regarding dental care.
Pharmacy students prepared two posters about “the new modalities in treatment of Type I & Type II DM” discussing the new advances in drug therapy& insulin injections.
BBMS students participated with a poster about “the prevalence & laboratory diagnosis of DM”. They also organized two glucometer stations to measure blood glucose levels for the participants.

Nursing students participated in an activity to measure BMI for the participants. They also prepared a poster about “obesity & BMI”.
Physiotherapy students participated in an interactive station, where they performed a balance test for diabetic neuropathy. Also, they provided tips for physical exercise that can be performed at the workplace.
