The College of Medicine, Gulf Medical University, in collaboration with EasyLab, jointly organized an academic workshop titled “Next Generation Sequencing Using Oxford Nanopore Technologies” on 28 January 2026 at the Microbiology Laboratory, GMU.
The workshop was attended by faculty members of the College of Medicine and final-year students of the Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences (BBMS) programme, providing valuable exposure to advanced genomic technologies relevant to clinical and translational research.
The session was delivered by Mr. Madhusudhan MV, Field Application Specialist, EasyLab, Dubai, who discussed the principles, workflow, and applications of Oxford Nanopore sequencing technology, highlighting its real-time sequencing capabilities and advantages over conventional platforms.
The interactive session encouraged meaningful discussions on clinical diagnostics, microbial genomics, and research applications, reinforcing academia–industry collaboration and supporting GMU’s commitment to excellence in medical education and research.
