In step with the ongoing efforts, by the College of Medicine, GMU, two Peer Advising Session “If I Were You” was organized during October 2025, for the preclinical MD and GMD students. The sessions were delivered by Ms. Priya Pardasani, Ms. Olla Hafiz and Mr. Zainaldeen al Mathno to the MD Year 3 & GMD Year 1 students while Ms. Amina Rabiu, Ms. Mouna Hathat and Mr. Ilyas Ahmed to MD Year 4 & GMD Year 2. The speakers shared experiences regarding their preparation for high stakes university and USMLE licensure exams, the resources they found useful, the strategies that worked best for them and their peers, test taking tips and strategies for success.
The session was organized by Dr. Mehzabin Ahmed, Chair of the Career Advising Committee, COM. The session was interactive with students enthusiastically engaging with the speakers to grasp a clear understanding of the process of application for USMLE licensure, and tips to manage their time, balancing extracurricular and research activities while focusing on the preparation.
