The College of Medicine, Gulf Medical University, organized an insightful session titled “Pathway to Careers in Germany” on 28th March 2026 for interns and undergraduate medical students. The session was delivered by Dr. Alaa Khalil, Specialist Dermatologist and Assistant Doctor of Family Medicine at Klinikum Schloss Winnenden, Germany, and Founder of Fachsprachprüfung Akademie.

Dr. Alaa provided a comprehensive overview of medical career pathways in Germany, including licensing procedures, visa requirements, equivalency examinations, and specialization opportunities within the German healthcare system. She also shared practical insights into professional life in Germany, offering participants a clear and structured understanding of the steps required to pursue medical practice in Europe. Her session further highlighted the role of structured training programs in preparing candidates for language proficiency and professional licensing examinations.

The session was jointly organized and moderated by Dr. Mehzabin Ahmed, Chair of the Career Advising Committee, and Dr. Safaa Abdelkhalek, Committee Member. It was highly interactive, with active student participation in meaningful discussions and requests for clarification on career progression, residency opportunities, and the transition to international healthcare systems. Dr. Alaa addressed queries with clarity, drawing from her own professional journey to provide practical guidance.

Speaking about the occasion, Prof. Salman Yousuf Guraya, Dean of the College of Medicine, emphasized the importance of organizing such career-oriented sessions. He highlighted that structured career guidance initiatives play a vital role in equipping students with global perspectives and informed decision-making. He further encouraged the continued organization of similar engagements to help students explore international opportunities and achieve professional growth.
