The College of Medicine at Gulf Medical University proudly congratulates Ms. Shama Hasan Ahmed Alhammadi, Registered Nurse at Al Dhafra Hospitals – SEHA, on the successful Défense of her Master in Health Professions Education (MHPE) thesis. Ms. Shama successfully presented her thesis entitled “Exploring Compensatory Strategies for Learning Gaps Among Medical Students Post-COVID in the UAE.”
The study explored strategies adopted by medical students to overcome learning gaps following the COVID-19 pandemic and provides valuable evidence to support curriculum enhancement, learner support, and educational resilience within health professions education.
The thesis was completed under the expert supervision of Prof. David Taylor, whose academic mentorship and guidance were instrumental throughout the research journey. The examination was conducted by Prof. David Taylor (Internal Examiner and Thesis Supervisor) and Prof. John H. V. Gilbert (External Examiner), who commended the candidate for the quality of the research, its scholarly rigor, and its relevance to contemporary medical education.
The Défense was further enriched by the participation of Prof. Salman Yousuf Guraya, Dean of the College of Medicine, who contributed valuable perspectives during the scholarly discussion, reflecting the College’s continued commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and research in health professions education.
