The College of Medicine at Gulf Medical University, through its Community Engagement Committee, in collaboration with Thumbay University Hospital and Ajman Cooperative Society (COOP), successfully organized a community outreach initiative titled “Screen Today, Stay Healthy Tomorrow” on 17 May 2026 at the Al Jurf Branch of Ajman Coop.

Aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being, the initiative aimed to promote preventive healthcare by offering free blood pressure and Body Mass Index (BMI) screening services to community members. The program focused on raising awareness of the importance of early identification of risk factors for hypertension and obesity, encouraging healthy lifestyle choices, and emphasizing the value of regular health monitoring and timely medical consultation.

The screening campaign benefited 62 community members, who also received individualized health education and counseling on maintaining a balanced diet, engaging in regular physical activity, effective weight management, and the importance of routine medical follow-up for disease prevention and overall well-being.

The event was led by Prof. Shatha Alsharbati, Head of Community Medicine Department, and supported by faculty members, clinical educators, medical interns, and students from the College of Medicine, providing participants with valuable health information while fostering experiential learning opportunities for future healthcare professionals. Through direct interaction with the community, students and interns further enhanced their communication, teamwork, and patient-centered care skills within a real-world public health setting.
