Master of Science in Medical Imaging Sciences (MSc. MIS)

The Master of Science in Medical Imaging Sciences (MSc. MIS) program at Gulf Medical University is a specialized postgraduate program designed to develop advanced clinical expertise, research competency, and professional leadership in medical imaging.

Admission Requirements (Academic Year 2026 – 27)

  • A bachelor’s degree in Medical Imaging Sciences or equivalent from an accredited University in the UAE or equivalent to outside the UAE.
  • A minimum cGPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or its established equivalent.
  • A valid license as a Radiographer or Radiologic Technologist issued from MoH / DHA / DOH, U.A.E. is preferable.
  • Applicant must complete English proficiency requirement as stated under the general admissions requirements as follows
    • Applicant who has completed his/her undergraduate education in English medium of Instruction shall submit the letter of evidence
    • International applicant with medium of instruction in native language must clear the English language proficiency test such as TOEFL, IELTS Academic. A minimum score of 550 TOEFL (213 CBT, 79 iBT), 6.0 IELTS Academic.

  • International student with a recognized baccalaureate degree in regional language with minimum score of, 530 TOEFL (197 CBT, 71 iBT), 5.5 IELTS Academic. Such student must meet the following requirements during the period of conditional admission or be subject to dismissal from the program:
    • The student must achieve a TOEFL score of 550 or its equivalent by the end of the first semester.
    • The student may be allowed to take a maximum of six credit hours in the first semester of study, not including intensive English course.
    • The student must achieve an overall GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0-point scale or its established equivalent in the first 6 credit hours of credit-bearing courses taken for the Master’s program.
  • Graduate with a minimum cGPA of 2.5 to 2.9 on a 4.0 scale or its established equivalent: Such student shall be admitted to the first semester under the following conditions:
    • The student is allowed to take a maximum of nine credit hours of courses studied for the graduate program during the first semester.
    • The student must achieve a minimum CGPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or its established equivalent, in these ten credits of courses studied for the graduate program to progress to second semester or be subject to dismissal.
  • Graduate with a minimum cGPA of 2.0 to 2.4 on a 4.0 scale or its established equivalent: Such student shall be admitted to the first semester under the following conditions:
    • The student is required to successfully complete nine graduate-level credit hours as remedial preparation for the graduate program. These remedial courses are not for credit within the degree program.
    • The student must achieve a minimum cGPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or its established equivalent, in these nine credits of remedial courses in order to be admitted to the graduate program or be subject to dismissal.

Completion Requirements of the MSc-MIS Program includes:

  1. Successful completion of 30 credits of the program.
  2. Minimum pass mark of 70% (Grade C) in each graded course.
  3. Pass clinical practice courses.
  4. Minimum cGPA of 3.0 out of 4.0.
  5. Minimum attendance of 80% in graded courses.
  6. Mandatory attendance of 100% in clinical courses.
  7. Submitting and defending a thesis to the satisfaction of the thesis judging committee with a minimum pass mark of 70%.
  8. Publishing abstract and presenting research work in a conference.
