Dr. Ashuriyon Shahlo, Director of the Republican Higher Medical College in Tajikistan, along with a group of Physiotherapy professionals, visited the Department of Physiotherapy at Gulf Medical University and Thumbay Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Hospital on June 5, 2023.

The Republican Higher Medical College has a significant role in the healthcare history of Tajikistan. The members in the team are involved in developing professional degree programs in Physiotherapy Tajikistan and this visit was to explore and seek support from GMU in the same. They also sought collaboration with the Department to gather valuable information and support for the program’s development.

Dr. Ashuriyon expressed her satisfaction with the experience she said, noting that the facilities they observed were new even to their own team and herself. She thanked the hosts for their openness and for answering all the questions raised. The visit was a positive experience for the entire team, paving the way for the opening of the physiotherapy program.

Praveen Kumar, Dean, College of Health Sciences, expressed his happiness and commitment to contributing to the development of the Physiotherapy program at the Republican Higher Medical College. He promised the delegates to guide them in curriculum development, course structure, and teaching methodologies for the developing Physiotherapy program at the Republican Higher Medical College.
