Department of Anesthesia Technology at the College of Health Sciences (CoHS) GMU, conducted a focused hands-on workshop titled “From Mask to Tube: Hands-On Airway Management in Safe Anesthesia Practice” on 07 November 2025 at the Thumbay Institute of Clinical Simulation (TICS) Center, Gulf Medical University, Ajman.

The workshop strengthened students’ practical skills in essential airway management techniques, including airway assessment, equipment preparation, effective mask ventilation, insertion of airway adjuncts, supraglottic airway placement and endotracheal intubation.

Faculty experts Dr. Aejaz Ahmad, Mr. Gurulingappa Herakal and Ms. Aparnna Baburaj led the training with live demonstrations and guided practice on high-fidelity simulation manikins, enabling students to work through both routine and difficult airway scenarios with confidence.
The Department expressed appreciation to Program Director Dr. Ellen Safadi and Dr. Praveen Kumar, Dean, College of Health Sciences, Gulf Medical University, for their continued support, and to Ms. Sandya and the TICS team for ensuring seamless simulation arrangements and high-quality equipment.
The workshop strengthened students to effectively translate theoretical knowledge into hands-on proficiency, thereby strengthening their preparedness for clinical rotations and future professional roles. Reaffirming the Anesthesia Technology Program’s commitment to excellence in experiential learning, clinical readiness, and patient safety.

Dr. Praveen Kumar, Dean, CoHS shared, “I am proud of the Department of Anesthesia Technology for organizing a workshop that directly builds the practical confidence our students need. Hands-on learning plays a major role in shaping safe and competent practitioners, and this session demonstrated exactly that. The teamwork between faculty, the simulation center and our program leadership reflects our shared commitment to preparing students for real clinical responsibilities.”
