Ms. Emaan Zahra Ijaz (2022PT01), a fourth-year Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) student from the College of Health Sciences, Gulf Medical University, has authored and published an opinion article titled “Disasters Injuries Rehabilitation: The Frontline We Keep Forgetting” on Global Health NOW on October 8, 2025, a well-known international platform for public and global health professionals.
In her article, Ms. Emaan highlights the often-overlooked role of rehabilitation, especially physiotherapy, in disaster and emergency medical response systems. She explains how early involvement of physiotherapists within Emergency Medical Teams can significantly improve recovery, restore function, and support patients in regaining independence. Her writing draws on international guidelines and real-world examples to strengthen this message.
This achievement reflects her strong academic understanding, social awareness, and commitment to healthcare beyond the classroom, aligning with GMU’s vision of developing globally responsible healthcare professionals.
