Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS), College of Health Sciences (CoHS), Gulf Medical University (GMU), formally welcomed the 2025 cohort of BSc. Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS) students on August 30, 2025, through a structured and informative orientation program designed to prepare students for their academic journey.
Key orientation highlights included sessions that introduced students to GMU’s academic framework, professional expectations, and the resources available to support their success. The session began with an inspiring welcome by Dr. Praveen Kumar, Dean of CoHS, who emphasized the university’s vision of preparing globally competent healthcare professionals through innovation, research, and hands-on training.
This was followed by a Program Director’s message by Dr. Ahmed Luay, who outlined the academic calendar, integrity policies, and university regulations. Ms. Devapriya Finney, Semester Coordinator, guided students through Semester 1 courses, schedules, and assessment methods.
Students were introduced to GMU’s Learning Management System (LMS) and Folio 360 by Mr. Suraj Sebastian and were briefed on academic and administrative processes by Registrar Mr. Aslam Kutty. Dr. Ramprasad M provided an overview of the library facilities and digital resources, while Ms. Liza Kaminzada introduced services offered by the Student Affairs Department.
The orientation concluded with a tour of the campus facilities and a networking session over refreshments, allowing students to connect with faculty and peers.
