Dr. Meruna Bose, Associate Professor in the Department of Physiotherapy, College of Health Sciences at Gulf Medical University, was invited as a distinguished speaker at the 8th International Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine Conference (IPRMC) held from November 21 to 23, 2025 in Abu Dhabi.

The IPRMC 2025 featured 65 Thought Leaders from leading healthcare organizations, covering diverse rehabilitation topics focusing on advanced knowledge and practical insights delivered to 400 rehabilitation professionals from 14 countries.
Dr. Meruna delivered an expert session titled “Wearables to Virtual Reality: Revolutionizing Parkinson’s Rehab” during the WFNR/EFNR Neurorehabilitation track. Her presentation highlighted how wearable cueing devices, robotic exoskeletons, virtual reality platforms and artificial intelligence are reshaping rehabilitation for people with Parkinson’s disease.

Dr. Meruna discussed evidence showing how technology augments traditional rehabilitation through personalized and remote care solutions significantly improving gait, balance and functional independence through evidence-based innovations such as the soft robotic exosuits, immersive VR systems and AI-powered wearable sensors enabling personalized, remote care interventions.

Dr. Meruna’s work strongly supported the conference theme “Rehab 360: Advancements in Multidisciplinary Rehabilitation” by demonstrating how technology enhances traditional therapy and supports personalized care.
