The Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences, College of Health Sciences (CoHS), Gulf Medical University (GMU), successfully organized a Faculty Development Workshop on Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT) on 22nd August 2025 at GMU.
Led by Mr. Madhusudhan MV, Field Application Specialist at EasyLabs, the workshop featured an introduction to ONT and its applications, a showcase of the MinION Mk1D sequencing device and flowcell, hands-on demonstrations of ONT software platforms MinKNOW and EPI2ME, and a detailed walkthrough of the Metagenomics/16S Workflow with sample analysis.
The workshop provided faculty with hands-on exposure to advanced sequencing technologies, enhancing their skills in research-driven education and further supporting research and teaching excellence at GMU.
