Dr. Jameel Rizwana Hussaindeen, Program Director and Associate Professor of the Department of Optometry and Vision Sciences at the College of Health Sciences (CoHS), Gulf Medical University (GMU), was invited as a speaker and session moderator at OPTOVERSE 6, organized by the United Optometrists Forum (UOF) and accredited by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) for 15.5 CPD points, held on October 24–25, 2025.
Dr. Rizwana delivered a scientific talk on “The Mis(sed) Diagnosis: Functional Vision in Children with Special Needs” under the Paediatric and Binocular Vision Disorders session. Her presentation emphasized the importance of functional vision assessment in cases of Cerebral Visual Impairment (CVI) and oculomotor dysfunction, facilitating an engaging dialogue on advancing neurovisual rehabilitation and interdisciplinary eye care.
Dr. Rizwana also moderated the Neuro-Optometry session, facilitating engaging discussions on post-concussion and post-stroke visual deficits and highlighting the need for collaborative approaches in neurovisual rehabilitation.
