The College of Health Sciences (CoHS), Gulf Medical University (GMU), celebrates a significant research achievement as Dr. Hasna Fathima, Assistant Professor, Department of Audiology and Speech-Language, CoHS, GMU, has been awarded the prestigious Thumbay International Research Grant on 10 June 2026 for her collaborative research project titled “Advancing Personalized Cochlear Implant and Binaural Hearing Strategies.”
The funded project is led by Dr. Yang Soo Yoon, Associate Professor, Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, Translational Auditory Research Laboratory, Baylor University, USA, in collaboration with Dr. Hasna Fathima from GMU. The funded project aims to advance personalized approaches to cochlear implantation and binaural hearing rehabilitation, including the development of innovative tools to support improved clinical decision-making in cochlear implant and binaural hearing outcomes.
This competitive grant recognizes high-impact research initiatives with global relevance and highlights the strength of international collaboration in advancing healthcare innovation. The grant further strengthens the academic and research partnership between Gulf Medical University and leading global institutions, creating new opportunities for advancing knowledge and improving healthcare outcomes.
