College of Health Sciences (CoHS), Gulf Medical University campus came alive with pride as new BSc. Audiology & Speech-Language Pathology (ASLP) students participated in their White Coat Ceremony on 23 September 2026 at the Thumbay Medicity. This solemn tradition marked their entry into a profession that restores voices, hearing, and confidence.
The ceremony was graced by Chief Guest, Dr. Thumbay Moideen, Founder & President, Board of Trustees, Thumbay Group. In his message, Dr. Thumbay Moideen inspired the new entrants to uphold GMU’s legacy of producing competent and compassionate healthcare professionals.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Dr. Thumbay Moideen congratulated the incoming students and their families. He highlighted GMU’s strategic transformation into one of the most advanced medical universities globally, emphasizing the unparalleled clinical training opportunities available across the vast network of Thumbay Academic Hospitals.
Prof. Manda Venkatramana, Chancellor of GMU, presided over the event and highlighted the vital role of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology professionals in enhancing communication, hearing, and overall quality of life. He emphasized the importance of compassionate, patient-centered care and encouraged the students to embrace their profession with empathy, clinical excellence, and a commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families.
During the ceremony, Prof. Maher Al Masri, Vice Chancellor – Academics, led the administration of the GMU Honor Code, a solemn pledge by the students to uphold professionalism, ethics, and patient-centered care throughout their careers.
Representing the Class of 2026, Ms. Sham Ousama Abdul Rzak ,2026ASLP12, Mr. Salem Saleh Salem Al Ameri Reg. No.2026ASLP15 received their white coats from the Chief Guest, Dr. Thumbay Moideen, Founder & President, Board of Trustees, Thumbay Group marking the symbolic start of their professional journey. Their peers and families proudly cheered this memorable milestone, both onsite and through live broadcast.
Dr. Praveen Kumar, Dean, College of Health Sciences, warmly welcomed the new ASLP students and congratulated them on this significant milestone.
