The Department of Anesthesia Technology, College of Health Sciences, Gulf Medical University, organized a Career Advising Session on Tuesday, 27 January 2026 to guide students on career pathways, professional opportunities, and job readiness in the field of anesthesia technology.
The session brought together healthcare experts, faculty members, and alumni to provide students with practical insights into professional practice and employment prospects both within the UAE and internationally. The program aimed to help students understand workplace expectations and prepare confidently for their transition into clinical careers.
Dr. Ellen Ghazi, Program Director, Bachelor of Science – Anesthesia Technology (BSc. AT) Program, welcomed the gathering and highlighted the importance of early career planning, continuous learning, and adaptability in today’s healthcare environment.
The guest lecture segment featured Dr. Diaa Eldan, Consultant Anesthesiologist at Thumbay University Hospital, who spoke about the evolving role of anesthesia technologists in operating theatres and critical care units. He emphasized competence across pre-operative, intra operative, and post-operative care, along with teamwork and professional ethics.
Dr. Ramprasad M, Chair, Department of Physiotherapy, addressed students on specialization, keeping pace with technological advancements, and preparing proactively for opportunities in regional and global healthcare systems.
A dedicated career advising session was conducted by Ms. Fatma M. M. Alnabriss, GMU alumna and Anesthesia Technologist at King’s College Hospital, Dubai. She shared practical guidance on employment opportunities, workplace responsibilities, international career requirements in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and GCC countries, and effective job application and interview strategies. Her interaction was particularly motivating for graduating students.
The program also included a Job Orientation Session by Mr. Murtada M. Fathelrahman, Faculty Member, Department of Anesthesia Technology who discussed aligning academic competencies with employer expectations, professional conduct, and resume preparation.
An engaging quiz competition coordinated by Ms. Mina Khalil Razmgir (2022AT03), Semester VIII student, encouraged active participation. The winners were:

Certificates of appreciation were presented to speakers and student participants.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Nithin Raj , Faculty Member, Department of Anesthesia Technology expressing appreciation to all contributors for making the event meaningful and impactful.
The Career Advising Session provided students with clear direction, professional insight, and practical tools to support their journey from academic training to successful healthcare careers.
