Department of Audiology and Speech-Language at the College of Health Sciences (CoHS), Gulf Medical University (GMU), organized an engaging and informative orientation session for the 2025 BSc. ASLP cohort on August 30, 2025. The event introduced students to GMU’s academic structure, program policies, and extensive student support services, ensuring a strong start to their educational journey.

The session began with a welcome address by Dr. Praveen Kumar, Dean of CoHS, who inspired students with his words, “We are thrilled to welcome the 2025 BSc. ASLP cohort to GMU. Audiology and speech-language professionals play a vital role in improving communication and quality of life, and we are committed to equipping our students with advanced knowledge, practical expertise, and ethical values to lead in this critical field.”

Following this, Dr. Maha Mustafa Ahmed Zaitoun, Program Director and Semester Coordinator, provided a detailed overview of the academic calendar, policies, integrity standards, Semester 1 courses, weekly schedules, and assessments, helping students gain clarity on their academic journey.

To support their learning, Mr. Suraj Sebastian conducted an orientation on the Learning Management System (LMS) and Folio 360, platforms designed to enhance learning and portfolio development.
Key administrative and academic leaders also engaged with students:
- Registrar’s Address: Mr. Aslam Kutty outlined essential administrative processes and services.
- Library Orientation: Dr. Ramprasad M highlighted GMU’s extensive library resources and research support.
- Student Affairs Overview: Ms. Liza Kaminzada introduced the mentorship program, wellness initiatives, and extracurricular opportunities.

The orientation concluded with a networking session and refreshments, allowing students to connect with peers and faculty while familiarizing themselves with GMU’s welcoming campus environment.
