Students from the BSc. in Healthcare Management and Economics (BSc.HME) program at Thumbay College of Management and AI in Healthcare, Gulf Medical University recently held a research poster presentation for the 2025-26 academic cycle. The event provided a platform for these emerging professionals to present evidence-based insights into the most pressing challenges and opportunities within the modern healthcare landscape.

The prominent themes of the research work ranged from AI, medical tourism, sustainability, Workforce & Consumer Insights. A group of students investigated the integration of Artificial Intelligence in medical education, identifying an “awareness-ethical gap.” One study analyzed the organizational causes of physician burnout—such as administrative burdens—proposing management-led stability strategies. Another project highlighted a “literacy gap” in health insurance, suggesting that simplifying claim processes is key to improving patient utilization. The dominant theme remained Medical Tourism. Several projects evaluated the UAE’s status as a global healthcare hub. Research focused on strengthening Ajman’s regional brand, balancing luxury cosmetic surgery with affordable packages, and reinvesting tourism revenue into local infrastructure to ensure social and environmental sustainability.

Dean Prof. Amir Zeid praised the students’ work, stating: “The quality of these projects reflects the high standards of our program. These students are exploring real-world solutions to contemporary challenges with a highly professional approach.”

Dr. Jagroop Singh, Research Mentor, added: “The students successfully bridged the gap between theory and practical application, demonstrating a keen ability to handle complex data to reach meaningful conclusions.”
Evaluators Dr. Vinaytosh Mishra and Dr. Hiba Ali Elzaki Hajomer commended the students on their strategic depth, noting that topics like AI ethics and insurance literacy are highly relevant to the UAE’s national healthcare goals.

Class Representative Ms. Sumaida Afridi shared: “This poster presentation allowed us to step into the roles of healthcare consultants. We worked hard to ensure our research was relevant to the current industry, and we are grateful for the support of our mentors as we prepare for our future careers.”
By investigating these complex issues, the BSc.HME 4th Year students have demonstrated they are prepared to lead the healthcare sector with innovative thinking and strategic management skills.
